RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the way by which individuals become Catholic and receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. RCIA is for persons unbaptized or baptized in another Christian tradition who desire to become Catholic, or persons baptized Catholic in need of First Communion and/or Confirmation. Our primary goal with RCIA is to bring the candidates to a deeper appreciation, love and understanding of God. Along with the factual information as noted below, they are introduced to parishioners who share their personal faith experiences and journey. We average 2 -4 catechumens/candidates per year.
RCIA typically runs from the first week of Advent to Pentecost. Catechumens and candidates meet Sunday morning for 8:30 Mass and then gather for a session and fellowship from approximately 9:30 until 10:45. One to two chapters of Invitation are covered each morning with the entire book being covered during that time period. They are also exposed to devotions and sacramentals such as the Rosary, The Divine Chaplet and Eucharistic Adoration.
