Confirmation (Teen Preparation) Confirmation is the sacrament in which baptized Catholics are strengthened by the gift of the Holy Spirit and more fully initiated into the life and mission of the Church. In our parish and diocese, teenagers typically prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation during the ninth grade. Through prayer, learning, service, and reflection, candidates deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith and their relationship with Jesus Christ. Preparation for Confirmation takes place through the parish Faith Formation program. Even if a student attends a Catholic high school, participation in parish sacramental preparation is still required, since the sacraments are received within the life of the parish community. Whenever possible, the sacrament is administered by the Bishop as a sign of our unity with the wider Church. Please see the sections below for more specific information about preparation requirements, schedules, and participation.
